JAPALOOT / BUYING NOTES

Can You Buy from Melonbooks Overseas Through a Proxy? Start with the Exact Offer

Need a Melonbooks-only item abroad? Compare forwarding with purchase requests and prepare the exact offer details before paying.

Information checked 2026-11-05

A proxy service may be able to buy a physical Melonbooks item for you, including an offer with a shop-only extra, but submitting a request is not an accepted order. The service must confirm it can handle the exact listing, purchase it while available, and offer delivery to your destination. If you only need the book edition rather than a Melonbooks-specific bundle, check the matching item at another seller first.

Melonbooks currently restricts some overseas access, and its international FAQ says it does not ship abroad directly. Store access, who places the order, and international delivery are separate questions.

Direct order plus a Japanese forwarding addressYou place and pay for the store order; the forwarder receives the parcel in Japan and arranges onward shipping. You can access Melonbooks and complete its checkout yourself. The store accepts your order and forwarding address; the forwarder accepts the item and destination.
Buyee purchase requestBuyee checks the submitted store URL and, if it supports the purchase, places the order for you.You have the original offer URL and need a buying service.Buyee accepts this particular item and variation; the shop extra and destination remain available.
CDJapan proxy requestAfter a request is checked, an eligible proxy item is listed for payment; CDJapan then attempts the purchase from the Japanese seller. The original Melonbooks offer is not an ordinary CDJapan catalog listing. The request is accepted, the full offer is specified, and the service can ship it to your destination.

This distinction matters when the store will not open from your location. A forwarding service such as tenso.com supplies a Japanese delivery address, but you still need to place the Melonbooks order. Buyee's Order with URL and CDJapan's proxy request ask a service to assess the purchase. Their acceptance cannot be inferred from Melonbooks' general recommendation of external services. For the access issue itself, see our Melonbooks overseas-access guide.

What should you send with a purchase request?

Start with the original Melonbooks product URL, not a search-results page or a translated title alone. In the service's request fields or remarks, identify the Japanese title, creator or publisher, physical format, edition, quantity, and any product number you have saved. Specify the complete offer: for example, whether you want a regular book, a publisher special edition, or a book bundled with a Melonbooks-only item. State whether the book without that extra is unacceptable. This is a request checklist, not a promise that either service can obtain the bonus.

If overseas access prevents you from opening the listing, use the exact URL and details you previously saved. Do not guess at the bonus from a similar CDJapan product page. CDJapan's bonus guide says its ordinary listings do not include another shop's exclusive bonus and points customers to proxy shopping for that type of request. The listing and any limited bonus must still be confirmed by the service.

How do Buyee and CDJapan handle a request?

Buyee: Its Order with URL guide asks for the item URL and quantity, then says Buyee reviews whether purchase support is available and notifies the requester. It lists Melonbooks among sites readers may ask about. Buyee also has an Add to Buyee page for Melonbooks, but that browser-extension path begins by visiting the store page. If that page does not open where you are, the extension instructions alone do not solve access; ask Buyee whether it can assess your saved URL.

CDJapan: Its step-by-step guide allows a request using a Japanese seller's purchase link. Staff check availability and price; an eligible item is then listed on CDJapan for you to review and pay. After payment, CDJapan attempts to buy from the seller. A request can be declined, and a later seller-side stock change can still prevent fulfillment. CDJapan's service guide invites details about shop-only bonuses in the remarks, without guaranteeing any particular bonus.

For an ordinary book missing from CDJapan's catalog, its book-request route is a separate option. It is not a request for a particular Melonbooks bundle, and its guidance excludes doujinshi from that ordinary book route. Choose a route according to the exact offer you need.

What can stop the original-offer purchase?

What should you check before paying?

Read the service's answer for the exact offer, including the requested edition and extra. Confirm that it will ship the item to your destination and inspect the checkout amount, service charges, international shipping estimate, possible later shipping adjustment, import charges, and cancellation rules. CDJapan's proxy terms say a finalized paid proxy order generally cannot be changed or canceled, while price and availability can still change at the seller. The general buying guide explains the broader delivered-cost checks.

If the original Melonbooks extra is essential, send a request for that complete offer and wait for the service's item-specific answer before paying. If the ordinary edition is enough, compare an independently identified alternative listing instead.
